I was one of three carpentry team leads—”Master Carpenter” in this context—for a Heritage Theater summer season. I worked under the Technical Director to lead a team in executing a set design. Before this, I’d worked as a stage carpenter through most of high school and 3 years part-time at UVA. However, this was my first full-time employment doing stage carpentry. These crews also act as welding and rigging crews and worked to ensure safe lifts and runs of this motorized, board operated set.
