This architecture studio at UVA was focused on design thinking and commercial applications of small scale intricate concrete. The school’s print shop uses a photo paper which frequently goes to waste due to over-spooling or misprints. Because this paper is a ceramic and chemically coated monstrosity, it can never be recycled. We worked to research a method where students could reuse waste paper for rapid concrete prototyping. This project uses Grasshopper & Rhino for geometry processing, Pepakura for fabrication prep, glass fiber reinforced concrete, and sprayed plaster.
