The Stan Winston Arts Festival of the Moving Creature was a multi-discipline collaboration to create large puppetable creatures and parade/invade the streets of Charlottesville. Stan Winston, renowned special effects & creature artist founded a school now led by his son, Matt Winston. He and other SFX artists worked with UVA students to build 5 distinct creatures. The festival involved over a hundred puppeteers, performers, and helping hands. It was featured in local papers and news and received grant funding from the Jefferson Scholars.
